In collaboration with Dantzaz International Choreographical Creation Centre (DANTZAZ), Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture (TABAKALERA) and Gipuzkoako Foru Aldundia, Department of Culture of the Autonomous Province of Gipuzkoako (GFA), the choreographic residency program in Spain’s Basque Country will enable choreographers from Québec to experience a key moment in the professional careers under conditions designed to foster their creativity, shape their artistic approach and boost their international career profile.

The two-month stay in the Basque Country will include a one-month research/exploration residency at TABAKALERA in Donostia-San Sebastian and a one-month creation/production residency at DANTZAZ in Errenteria.

The residency runs for two months (from mid-January to mid-March).

The amount of the grant is intended to support part of the costs of the residency (insurance, travel, subsistence).

Information of the host institution

Located in a former tobacco factory, TABAKALERA opened its doors in 2015 as an international contemporary cultural centre. Its goal is to foster and distribute contemporary artistic works, which comprise the focus of its services and activities. TABAKALERA is also a cultural ecosystem featuring private initiatives and institutions, as well as a space for the general public. It contains exhibition halls, a digital arts laboratory, workshops and a cinema, in addition to training and cultural mediation facilities, etc. Befitting its role as a creative hub, TABAKALERA is developing a residency program to support artists, creators and cultural agents.
