  • $15,000 for short fiction and short- or medium-length documentaries

  • Companies must demonstrate to SODEC’s satisfaction that they hold the rights permitting the screenplay adaptation, production and exhibition of the project
  • A producer can participate in two projects per submission period, all production companies considered
  • A single company, including related companies, can submit one project per submission period; it can however submit two if at least one of the projects is written or directed by a woman and if at least one of them arises from the networking activities organized by SODEC prior to the application deadline
  • A short- or medium-length project that is unable to complete its development stage within 12 months of its acceptance is automatically refused in the production stage
  • A feature-length project that is unable to complete its development stage within 18 months of its acceptance is automatically refused in the production stage
  • Projects that are refused cannot be appealed as part of this program; however, they can be submitted during the postproduction stage in the Postproduction Support program if they meet eligibility requirements
  • During the production stage, SODEC generally does not accept projects where the deferred portion of salaries is greater than 50%
  • Projects benefitting from SODEC’s regular film and television production programs, as well as the previous Support for Young Creators program, are ineligible
