Description

This section of the program supports works from Quebec that have been selected for events such as foreign festivals or prestigious awards ceremonies. It does so by contributing to transportation costs as well as certain other costs related to promotion, sales and marketing. International events fall under three categories:

Category 1: Major festivals and awards

Category 2: Important festivals and awards

Category 3: Festivals of interest

Criteria

  • Financial aid:
  • Category 1: 50%, up to $10,000 for short films, $15,000 for medium-length films or $20,000 for feature-length films

  • Category 2: 50%, up to $5,000 for short films, $10,000 for medium-length films or $10,000 for feature-length films

  • Category 3: 100% of the director’s economy class transportation costs

  • Applications must be submitted at least 14 days before the event
  • Applicants must be selected for an event listed in Annex A
  • If the event for which an applicant has been selected is not listed in Annex A, an application can be submitted if the following criteria are met:
  • The applicant must demonstrate the relevant of the event for the distribution of the work or the director’s career

  • The applicant must explain the event’s place in the international circuit, indicating the level of the selection and the quality of films being presented, the attendance of professionals, programmers, distributors, and buyers, professional activities, attendance, the presence of an export market, whether it is a world or national premiere, etc.

  • For festivals not listed under Annex A, SODEC’s support is limited to a contribution towards the director’s economy class transportation costs
  • Minority co-productions will only be considered under Category 1, and the evaluation of the application will take into account the nature and the percentage of the Quebec portion of the total budget
  • Applicants must have fulfilled their obligations towards SODEC for funding received through this or any other program

  • Copies of the governing documents, certificate of constitution, articles of incorporation, declaration of registration, certificate of amendment and partnership or shareholders agreement (if applicable)

  • Organizational structures for the applicant company and, if applicable, any affiliated companies, including shareholders

  • Curriculum vitae of the applicant company’s executives

  • Financial statements
